A weekend in New York City

Our family traveled from Boston on a greyhound bus for a family vacation weekend in New York City. The trip from Boston was long, but not excruciating. The bus route took us across most of Manhattan. We crossed over onto the island around Harlem and had a nice little tour all the way down to the bus terminal.
Our primary goal on this trip was a showing of the Colbert Report, but some genuine New York Pizzawas a close second. The first day was spent mostly walking around the city, times square, Bryant park, shopping at Macy's.
We grabbed some delicious pizza and took a taxi up to the studio. The show was fantastic and of course hilarious. After that is was some more tourist sight seeing in Times Square and then back to the hotel for some sleep.
The highlight of the trip definitely came on day two. We started with a trip to the natural history museum, my favorite part of the vacation. After wandering the exhibits for a few hours we headed to central park and marveled at the forest in the middle of New York City. Only a few dozen yards in and I might have forgotten I was in the largest metropolis on this side of the world. It was quite beautiful and impressively huge. Once we made it back out of the park we attempted to get to the top of the Empire State Building. Once we realized the magnitude of the line it became apparent that we wouldn't be able to make it before our bus we scheduled to leave. So we had some lunch and vowed to return to New York City sometime later.
