Carnival Freedom Cruise Vacation with children | |
| A Carnival Freedom Cruise is an excellent Family Vacation option. The Freedom is a Conquest Class Ship featuring 13 decks and 3 pools.... |
We sailed on the Carnival Freedom from Fort Lauderdale, Florida to the Western Caribbean ports of Key West, Florida, Grand Cayman, and Ocho Rios, Jamaica. The children had a ball at all of the destinations as well as aboard the ship during the fun days at sea.
Carnival does a fantastic job keeping everyone occupied while cruising. They have activities for all age groups form young children through adult. It is "hands down" our family's favorite cruise line.
The photo of the Carnival Freedom that you see to the right was taken from Ochos
Rios Jamaica. The Carnival Freedom is a magnificent Ship.
The ship is 953 feet long, and has capacity for 2,974 guests and 1,150 crew
members. When the ship is in port, it is a stately portrait seen for many
miles.
The
Carnival Freedom has three swimming pools, and a small kiddie wading pool.
The Freedom also has a 220 foot water slide. The water slide was a huge hit
among the children and adults alike. The water slide is shown at left.
The pools were busy all the time that they were open, and of course were a big
hit with the children. For those of you who are curious, the pools on
board are filled with salt water.

Close to the Water Slide is the largest wide screen monitor on the high seas. The cruise director and the assistant cruise director host a morning show each morning which is played on this screen... and there is a movie played each and every evening..... quite a treat! We ventured out several times to the 10 PM show - it was a great time!

High above the big screen, is a walking track (it circles the famous Carnival Smoke Stack)... and at the base of the smoke track is a high seas putt putt course. My husband and son took time to play the putt putt course on the Carnival Freedom.... As long as the winds are not blowing too wildly, it is great fun!
Each
night in our Carnival Freedom Cruise stateroom, we were greeted by a cute
towel animal crafted by our cabin steward. The crew aboard the
Freedom
was very attentive and always ready to jump up and help the guests in any way
possible. You truly feel spoiled while onboard.
In addition to the great service, and the fantastic pools and waterslide, we would be amiss if we did not mention the fabulous onboard entertainment that awaits you each night after dinner. The entertainment is top-notch. We were treated to seven fantastic live shows featuring singers and dancers, and comedians. If you are fortunate enough to cruise as a family, be sure to take in the entertainment each night.
Now, as I was mentioning the after dinner entertainment, that thought
brought to mind the incredible dining room staff and the awesome dinners.
Each night at dinner, you will be handed a menu to select an appetizer and
entree. After dinner, you will be given a different menu from which to
select your dessert. Let me just tell you now, go to dinner hungry, and
be sure to try something new. You will be amazed at the cuisine that you
will be offered - from broiled lobster to salmon and shrimp, filet mignon,
prime rib, pasta dishes, and the list goes on and on.

Carnival Freedom Cruise Western Caribbean Ports of Call
Key West Florida
During our short stay in Key West, Florida one of my daughters and I decided
to try parasailing.... it was great! We used the Fury Dive Shop for our
adventure - we had a great time!
Grand Cayman, Cayman Islands
We spent part of one day on Grand Cayman on our Carnival Freedom Cruise.
The kids and I opted for a shore excursion that took us snorkeling at the
barrier reef. For those of us who do not get to spend much time in the
oceans, we really enjoyed the short time of snorkeling..... the remainder of
our time on the island was spent shopping. The Tortuga Rum Company is a
great stop....
Ocho Rios Jamaica
Ocho Rios was a great stop - the shore excursion of the trip this day was the
Ocho Rios Canopy Zip Line
Tour. It was a fantastic tour! We spent the remainder of the
day shopping!
