Colonial Williamsburg Virginia - a History based Theme ParkAre you looking for the perfect mix of education and excitement for your next family vacation? |
If your family vacation holds a trip to Williamsburg in Virginia this year, you are in for a treat! This historically-rich town is teeming with lots of all-American family-friendly restaurants, and fun for the kids.
Just a short history of
Colonial Williamsburg and Virginia: this town where Colonial Williamsburg
was erected on came to be after a year when the plagued-infested town of
Jamestown was burned down and the people thought of moving the colonial capital
inland. This place used to be just a small village that was called, “Middle
Plantation”. It was soon renamed as “Williamsburg” in honor of King William III.
Around the mid-1700s, the state of Virginia became the most prosperous state out
of all the American colonies thanks to its booming tobacco industry and Colonial
Williamsburg became the country’s largest city having about two thousand
residents.
Through the years Colonial Williamsburg former glory can be revisited through
its beautiful and well-restored colonial structures. It then opened
the popular theme park aptly called, Colonial Williamsburg which is believed to
be the first-ever theme park in the whole United States to make use of the
United States’ history as its theme and to serve amusement to visitors.
Colonial Williamsburg, the theme park actually comes completed with costumed
guides which will serve as your interpreters for the trip. The place is
basically filled with historic buildings and fine gardens, you will need to buy
a ticket to be able to have a peek inside of most of the buildings in Colonial
Williamsburg, but you are free to roam around as you please especially in the
garden area and the cobblestone streets. Unfortunately, cars are not allowed in
Colonial Williamsburg so you and your kids will have to enjoy having a good long
walk. Treat this as a time for you to introduce your kids to the rich history
of America and how it eventually grew into the country that it is today.
