Disney Magic Kingdom: Frontierland Shootin' Arcade

Take your position on Boot Hill in Tombstone, Arizona and test your marksmanship. At the Frontierland Shootin' Arcade in Magic Kingdom, there are almost 100 targets to shoot at including a jail, hotel, bank and cemetery, plus other pop-up, moving and stationary targets. The targets animate when a hit is recorded. When you hit one of the targets, many of which are moving, they make noise, move and provide a few other surprises. Who knows, with practice you just might become the greatest Wild West sharpshooter on the whole frontier.
The guns shoot an infrared light that touch sensors on each target. The guns use to shoot led pellets, but had to be replaced because the cost of repainting each target every night and labor did not make sense.
The Frontierland Shootin’ Arcade is set in Boot Hill, in the year 1850. This is one of only two attractions that require an additional fee. The price is about fifty cents for fifteen shots. With so many of the rides at Disney having height requirements, the Frontierland Shooting Arcade is one of the few attractions at the park that is fun for everyone including the vertically challenged youngsters you may have with you. The only problem that I have found with the arcade at times is the same one that you would find in any traveling carnival, often the rifles sights are off by a pretty sizable margin. This can be quite frustrating for the little marksman in your family and has bruised many adult males’ egos through the years.
