Disney Magic Kingdom: It's a small world

A gentle boat ride takes you through more than 100 nations experiencing the culture of each while the child like dolls sing “it’s a small world” in five languages (English, Italian, Japanese, Spanish and Swedish). The décor and architecture throughout the ride is an excellent reflection of the countries that you are traveling through. The major themes include: Europe, Asia, Africa, Central/South America, South Pacific Islands, the Finale and the Good-bye Scene. All of the children sing for international unity and are dressed for their individual heritage. In the finale room all of the children are dressed in white to promote global peace. The ride’s slogan is the happiest cruise that ever sailed the seven seas.

There are many many different dolls to spot as you wind along the waterway. Look for wooden soldiers, cancan dancers, balloonists, chess pieces, Tower of London guards, bagpipers and leprechauns, gooseherds, little Dutch children in wooden shoes, Don Quixote and a goatherd, yodelers and gondoliers, dancers from Greece and Thailand, snake charmers, Japanese kite flyers, hippos, giraffes, frogs, hyenas, monkeys, elephants, surfers, dolphins and much more!

The ride was first designed for the 1964 New York World’s Fair and relocated several times before its final destination at Walt Disney World. While there is no breath taking drops or high speeds there is a great sense of pleasure in just taking a peaceful boat ride. The ride is a good break from running from ride to ride and standing outside. It is a must ride for me and my family on every trip to Walt Disney World.
