You just can't beat the Disney World Theme Park for overall kid-friendly fun and incomparable customer service.

Our family has been a fan of Disney for a long time, and have included the parks in family vacations four different times. The ages of our children were, of course different at each visit, so we tailored each visit to the age of the children....

On each of these pages, you will find information about our favorite Disney adventures, and how we decided to spend several of our family vacations at Disney World Theme Park!

Disney World with one child, age 7 Our first family vacation to Disney was in April 1992. Our oldest daughter, Sara, was 7 years old at the time, and she was then our only child. We stayed on the Disney property, in the Contemporary Resort. The monorail running through the lobby was a huge plus in our books!! Sara was mesmerized by everything! We toured Disney Magic Kingdom, and Disney Hollywood Studios. A favorite restaurant was the 50's Prime Time Cafe in the MGM Studios. The 50's Prime Time Cafe is a genuine replica of how food and life were 60 years ago.   We found that visiting Disney World with one child (a girl age 7), that we spent most of our time in the Magic Kingdom.... there are a lot of kid friendly rides and Character Greeting spots.... you cannot go wrong visiting the princesses!

In my opinion, the young children were too young on this family vacation to the Disney World Theme Parks, but it may have been because there were three of them to try to keep up with. On this trip, we stayed outside the Disney property at the Caribe Royale. Sara really enjoyed the trip this time as she was older, and able to enjoy the 'Tower of Terror' in MGM Studios. The younger children enjoyed Disney Magic Kingdom, Disney EPCOT, and the pool at the hotel.

The Caribe Royale is a resort hotel just a few miles from Walt Disney World.  The hotel offers buses on a regular basis to the Disney World Theme Parks that I thought was very adequate.  We have recently been making note of hotel reviews on tripadvisor.com - a site that provides unbiased reviews of hotels and travel attractions. ....

Disney World with Four Children, ages 20,11,11, and 9

This was the best of all family vacations to Disney. Everyone was old enough to really enjoy the rides and the atmosphere. We stayed at the Disney Swan Resort on the Disney Property, and wore the Disney Theme Parks out for three solid days. We hit every park, and did it all! Disney EPCOT was the family favorite on this trip.

Disney World with Three Children, ages 21,12,12

We traveled to Florida this time for my husband and son to attend the Outback Bowl on January 1, 2007.... the University of Tennessee's bowl game for the year.... in Tampa.  As a part of the trip, the girls and I got to spend one day at Disney.  Given the choice of one park to visit, it was a hands down Disney Hollywood Studios day - their favorite is Tower of Terror.

As a special part of this day though, we did hop over to Disney Animal Kingdom to ride Expedition Everest.... Fantastic.  We also dropped by the Dinosaur ride.  This actually tuned out to be a favorite of the group.

A Walt Disney World Family Vacation - A first time visitor's perspective on the Disney World theme park.

Choose on park that you really want to see for the day - get there before they open, and try to see all that you want to see there.

Plan your day at the Disney World Theme Park of your choosing, and take advantage of the FastPass option where available.  Also, each park has a board in a central location close to the entrance which lists the latest wait times and FastPass times.

If at all possible, get the park-hopper passes... then go to MGM in the evening to experience the Tower of Terror - every evening.

On at least one of your family vacations to Disney, try to stay on the Disney Theme Park property.  While there, be sure to take advantage of the Extra Magic hours - times in the morning and evening when the parks are open for Disney guests only.

Pack water bottles and light snacks in a backpack to carry with you during the day.

If you stay on the Disney World Theme Park property, you can go back to your room for lunch - keep sandwich things and snacks available there.

Limit the children to one souvenir for the trip.  For young children, an autograph book and pen is ideal - the characters sign autographs throughout the parks.

Magic Your Way Tickets - you can choose a pass good for from 1 to 10 days - add-ons include park-hopper option, water park option, and no expiration option.
