DVD = Peace and Quiet Family Travel Time

I find that the only way to travel with a child is to splurge on a portable DVD player with a battery of at least 8 hours. The battery is the main concern seeing that whether you travel by plane, train, or car, you need as much peace and quiet as possible! I also feel that you have to bring the right DVD's to make this all work. Bring popular dvds as well as ones that your child hasn't watched in a while.

Another important thing to bring is some easy to eat and pack snacks. Granola bars are good as well as fruit snacks and rice krispie treats!

Don't forget to bring stuff for your child to do depending on age. For babies up to age 18 months i suggest touch and feel books and flap books. It gives there little fingers something to do and it helps them with fine motor skills as well! As the children get older, coloring books and crayons are the way to go! For teenagers, the latest gadgets such as an Ipod or cell phone or even computer if your really willing to splurge is a great necessity!

As a long time traveler with children I have learned the hard way to always be prepared! If you think it won't happen, it probably will!

Enjoy your travels and be prepared!
