Family Fun Places in Charleston SC

There are many fun kid friendly things to do in Charleston SC and the Charleston SC area. One of my most favorite and yet little known place is called Cypress Gardens (www.cypressgardens.info). This is a location where they filmed the movie “The Patriot” and other movies I believe. They have boat rides, aquarium, alligators, huge turtles, butterfly house, hiking trails, and many other entertaining things to do. They also have seasonal events including pictures with Santa Clause and Halloween in the Swamp. There is a fee to enter Cypress Gardens, but a few hours could be spent there. Make sure you check the hours before you go so that you have time to experience everything there is. One of the best things to do though is to take a guided boat ride through the cypress swamp with an experienced and knowledgeable guide. I don’t think you can ever go wrong with Cypress Gardens!
Other fun kid things to do in downtown Charleston SC include the fountains at waterfront park. A fun place to be a kid and play in the fountains. Most of the time your child will not be the only child playing in the fountains which is fun.
There is also a small water-park in North Charleston called Wannamaker Park it includes slides, pools and other water activities. It is a great way to beat the heat on a hot summer day!
If you would like to take a trip to the beach head towards the isle of palms. They have a park that have lifeguards. The only beach in the area with Lifeguards!
