Kid Friendly Central Park is situated in the heart of New York City. A total of 843 acres of woodland provide enough space for 21 playgrounds, a zoo and a number of unique attractions. There are skating rinks that can be used all year long (inline skating and ice-skating), fountains, sculptures that kids can climb on, and the famed horse-drawn carriage rides.

Children can run around the playgrounds or visit the children’s zoo, where they can mingle with the animals. At the center of the zoo is an Enchanted Forest, which has oversize animals, a forest, and a spider web for kids to climb up on.

While the young ones are enjoying these places, their parents can sit on the many benches around Central Park. Or they might choose to rent a rowboat from the Loeb Boathouse. For water-loving families, they can rent a sailboat at Krebs Boathouse and have fun joining the races. Parents can spend quality time with their kids while watching miniature remote-controlled boats guided by experts.

Another attraction to try The Ramble, an artificial wild park full of rocks, trees, and a manmade stream. The Ramble invites people to appreciate nature and experience walking among the shrubs and flowers. The Lake is a gathering place for birds, thus for avid birdwatchers as well. There are two theaters in Central Park. The Swedish Cottage Marionette Theater features shows based on fairy tales, perfect for young children.   Older children might be interested in catching a performance at the Delacorte Theater, especially in the summer. Parents have to line up early to get free tickets to the 1 pm show.

Horse-drawn carriages are available for a relaxing ride. For the more active families, they can rent or bring their own bikes and go for a ride around Central Park, especially on weekends when the park is closed to vehicular traffic.
