Kings Island Amusement Park - great rides and fun in Cincinnati. OhioKings Island is just a short drive North of Cincinnati Ohio. |
|
We visit Cincinnati fairly regularly to see the Cincinnati Reds. In 2007, we purchased Cedar Fair Maxx Passes while at Carowinds Theme Park, which allow for entrance to any Cedar Fair Park.... so, Kings Island Amusement Park was on our itinerary....and we visited the park. Welcome to our review page.... enjoy our reviews of the park, and please send us your comments on the park.
The entrance to the park is dominated by the Kings Island sign and the waterfalls along International Street, and topped off by the Eiffel Tower - which by the way is a 1/3 scale replica of the original Eiffel Tower in Paris, France.... standing 331 Ft 6 inches high above the Amusement Park.
When we arrived at Kings Island, we arrived early enough to make sure that we were through security, lathered with sunscreen, and had enough time to store all of our stuff in a locker for the day. We also wanted to take pictures of the attractions along International Street and plan which roller coaster we were going to try first.
Being Adventuresome, we decided that The Beast would be our first ride of the day, so we positioned ourselves on the left side of International Street and awaited the opening time of the park. The park is very big, and the walk back to The Beast was a pretty long walk..... but we made it, and got in line. The kids loved The Beast, but I (being a slightly older adult person) felt like I had been shaken to pieces..... but for more of that, see our ride review section....
***** Sidebar*****
One note that I made, this park is really big, and there is a lot to see
and do.... you can enjoy it on one day, but you cannot see and do everything on
one day..... we tried, and made a good dent in the park, but we did not come
close to seeing everything that we wanted to see.
If you have the time while in Cincinnati, I recommend spending a few days in the park......it will be well worth your time.
******************
There are 14 roller coasters at Kings Island Amusement Park. There is no way that we could have ridden all 14 of them in one day due to the crowds at the park the day that we went. We wanted to see some of the shows while there, so had to pick and choose the rides to try.

Kings Island Ride Reviews |
|
The Beast is a 7,400 foot long wooden roller coaster. It is the
World's longest wooden roller coaster, and has been for 25 years.
It is a rough ride, but the track is nothing if it is not exciting.... you just seem to keep going and going.... at speeds up to 60 MPH. The adult in the party did not enjoy the ride as much as the kids did.... I stayed off wooden roller coasters all day long after riding THE BEAST. |

A spinning pendulum that is more of a thrill ride than you might think when it first starts! This version of the ride is better and faster than its counterpart at Great America Theme Park. This ride swing you on a spinning pendulum up to 137 ft. in the air.... spinning between the 10:00 and 2:00 clock positions.... a definite MUST SEE. |

This ride is a whole lot faster than it looks - starting out, you bolt out quickly and up a spiral "parking garage ramp".... then dash through several stunts from the movie.... all while riding in English "minis". It is a MUST RIDE - we rode it several times. |
|
This is a simulation type ride. You are strapped into a stadium
style seat, and then the room is darkened. You are rotated about an
axis, and flipped upside down four times. The scenes are stationary
in the ride, and the riders are rotated to each scene, and the scene then
lights up......My kids thought the ride was boring.... and LAME. It was a pretty rough ride, tossing you around and suspending you upside down for periods of time. In our opinion - you can skip this one......
