Our family vacation visit to Ocho Rios Jamaica was just day trip stopover while on family cruises, but we have had many an adventure.
Jamaica is a plush and green island - looking very much like our home in Northeast Tennessee.... except that the water is a beautiful clear blue....
Ocho Rios Jamaica Canopy Tour
Our favorite activity that was part of our
Ocho Rios Jamaica Family Vacations was the
Chukka Canopy
Zip Line Tour. The
canopy tour that we participated in was an authorized shore excursion sponsored
by Carnival Cruise Lines, so we took a bus directly from the dock beside the
cruise ship. The tour started with a 20 minute bus ride to the top of the
mountain that we would "zip down". Once there, we met out guides and were
equipped with our helmets and harnesses.... then the walk began. We had to

Ocho Rios Cruise Port Facility
When a cruise ship docks in Ocho Rios Jamaica, the first view is the Ocho Rios Port Facility and the city itself as seen here. All cruise ship passengers enter the Port Facility. There are shopping kiosks right outside the Port Facility, and several shopping areas in walking distance.
To the right of the Port Facility is the Island Village with Duty Free shopping and there you will find Margaritaville in Ocho Rios... there is a pool and water slide right in the restaurant.....
Inside, there is a bar and seating upstairs and downstairs as well as the pool area - talk about a fun retreat!
To the left and back down Main Street you will find the Harbour Shops
and the
Taj Mahal Shops - home of the
Hard Rock Cafe - Ocho Rios. All of the shopping around
the cruise port is about the same, you can find t-shirts and souvenirs
abounding..... it is fun just walking around and taking in the
sites..... like the dog on the roof to the right.
