Rehoboth Beach, Delaware. All the makings for a fun family trip!

Each year, my immediate family pools together money and rents a condo, hotel, or small beach house for a weekend during the summer.

We try to make sure everyone has a bed but usually end up having the younger kids sleep together and a couple adults take the couches and floor space to minimize cost.

Typically, the first night at the beach we go to dinner at Grotto's pizza (fairly inexpensive and ALWAYS tasty), then back to the hotel/condo/house to play games and spend time together. The following morning everyone heads for the sand. We set up camp with a couple of large sheets and plenty of towels. The adults (usually 4 or 5 of us) take turns keeping an eye on the younger children (usually 3 of them). We alternate so that we have a chance to relax and sunbathe.

The kids generally spend about 45 minutes playing in the sand, then 20 minutes in the water, then repeat. We always pack a big cooler with lots of water, juices, sandwiches, and chips/crackers. Everyone munches as they feel like it, then we normally pack up and head back to the hotel/condo/house for showers in the mid-afternoon.

The second night we always go out to dinner at a "nicer" restaurant (there are several to choose from in Rehoboth on the boardwalk and surrounding streets), then we head to the arcade on the boardwalk to play games and ride rides.

The last morning we spend about 2 hours on the beach then check out and head back to the beach for a couple hours. Its a great time for our entire family, and by getting a group of us together to share costs, it doesn't hurt our tight budgets!
