Rockefeller CenterIce Skating, Observation Center, The Today Show... |
In early November they were just starting to put up the Christmas tree so the only thing you could see was a tree with scaffolding surrounding it. We had to experience the ice skating rink. It was expensive, but what isn't in New York. Every hour they let a new group out on the ice. So when you pay for your skate rental, you are paying for one hour of skating. Which is good because after about an hour, ice skating is pretty tiring.
Top of the Rock - Your travel to the top pf NBC's studio to look out over the city. An absolutely amazing view.... 70 stories above Rockefeller Center, the trip to the top is almost as fun as being at the top. Walk through exhibits about the building, enjoy the Swarovski wall, and then ride the elevator with a glass ceiling to the Top of the Rock. The price of the ticket might scare some, but when you are looking at the breath taking view of New York City's sky line it is completely worth it. There is a neon lighted smart room on the roof that is sponsored by Target. The room follows the people in it by colors on the floors, ceiling, and walls. Don't really know the meaning of the room, but still a lot of fun.
Today Show - The Today Show starts at 7:00am and they will start letting people in the gate around 6:00am. I got there around 4:30am because I thought that since the Today Show is such a big hit, there would be lots of people in line. There was hardly a line and I got up early for nothing. Luckily I went on a colder day and they were expecting rain so I guess people decided it would be a bad day to stand outside. It actually ended up not raining and we were lucky.
Big hint - to get on the air the most is to stand next to Lenny. Meredith always talks with Lenny throughout the show when they venture outside. Lenny is no one special on the show, but if you have ever watched the Today Show then I am sure you have seen him standing outside.
