A San Francisco Giants Major League Baseball Vacation |
The Giants play baseball in the new AT&T Ballpark that is located downtown San Francisco. AT&T park is right on the San Francisco Bay.
We visited AT&T park to see the Giants on Friday May 25, 2007 while on our family vacation to San Francisco....
I don't know if it is ever warm in AT&T park, but the night that we were there, we were wrapped in blankets and shivering. The breeze coming in from the San Francisco bay was down-right cold.

Even though the weather conditions were less than desirable, we really enjoyed the game. The wind actually played a part in the game by whipping the ball around when it was pitched...

San Francisco Information
San Francisco is a fantastic city.... full of history, and many things to do.
Our Family's adventures in San Francisco are chronicled on our
San Francisco Page. Our favorite things to do
there was to visit the national parks, and walk around the city... the hills can
be a real killer though. San Francisco has a lot of other great things to
see.... check these other great deals in San Francisco.
While in San Francisco, before or after the game, you need to try the Sour Dough Bread that is made fresh daily in the downtown area. We visited the Boudin Bakery while walking around the downtown area.
Hotels around AT&T Ballpark
There are quite a few hotels in downtown San Francisco that will place you
within walking distance or MUNI service distance to AT&T park, but most of the
hotels in the downtown area might be more expensive than a budget-minded family
might be interested in ..... here is a link that will give you the hotels in the
downtown area.
Now, for some more budget-minded options, there are a few smaller towns in the
area that are within easy access to public transportation to the ballpark.
The San Bruno Hotels are close to the Caltrain station - San Bruno.
The San Bruno station is in the same zone as the AT&T park stop, so the lowest
fares will apply. On our trip to San Francisco, we drove to San Bruno, and
rode caltrain to the park.
San Bruno Hotels
Howard Johnson - San Bruno
- a very budget minded hotel that is located close to the CalTrain station.
Comfort Inns & Suites - San Bruno - This hotel has some great reviews on Tripadvisor.... a great small hotel that has great service and amenities. Close to the CalTrain station.
Marin County Hotels
Another great option is to stay in Marin County, and take the Larkspur Ferry to the Giants game. The Ferry is a little more expensive
than caltrain, but it could be a fun trip anyway.... if you are interested in staying close to the ferry, check out these hotels.
Getting to AT&T Ballpark
As I mentioned in the previous section, there are several good public
transportation options to getting to AT&T Park, but whatever you do..... do
not drive into San Francisco and expect to park and see a giants game!!!!
Here are a few options....
Caltrain - offers train service from San Jose to San Francisco. The train stations are very convenient to the small cities along the route. The fares are very reasonable, and there are special schedules for Giants games.
San Francisco Municipal Railroad - The MUNI system is the transit system within downtown San Francisco. If you are staying downtown, and not within walking distance of the stadium, take advantage of this transportation.
Larkspur Ferry - This ferry leaves from Marin County, and goes straight to the stadium.
