Sunscreen is important!

When heading out to the beach with kids in tow, be sure to apply sunscreen ahead of time. Many parents wait and apply it when they arrive, right before the kids head off to the sand and water. You should allow atleast 20 to 30 minutes for the spf to soak in before letting them play.

The easiest way to do this without having to hold them up while they're bouncing with excitement to go splashing, is to apply it at home before you leave the house, or hotel room. Then when the car comes to a stop, they can hit the sand runnin'!

Just keep in mind that sunscreen needs to be reapplied every hour or so when swimming or participating in sweaty activities. You should use atleast SPF 30. Also, keep them hydrated. Everyone knows how it feels to be a child and forget the trivial things like that!
