The best kid friendly restaurants in New York City

My nephew like many kids is a space freak! Anything to do with rockets, planets, aliens he is into. As a surprise for his birthday I took him to Mars 2112. Explaining to him that we would be dining on Mars for lunch, I had to ensure him that he would not get in trouble with his Mom for leaving earth before we went out on our journey. The Mars 2112 restaurant is a space themed restaurant for all the family located in the heart of the Times Square district at 51 Street and Broadway.
Mars 2112 starts off with a space ride for you and your family to Mars which simulates an out of this world space flight and lands you right in the heart of the planet. You will be greeted with dancing aliens as you dine in a martian cave eating martian pizza, burgers etc. My nephew who has not willingly eaten basically since birth, scarfed down his martian meal while being totally fascinated with his surroundings. After dining on Mars, you can enjoy the arcades sure to please any kid and visit the Mars 2112 gift shop to pick up a token of your trip to this planet. They do birthday parties as well!
For desert we traveled to the famous Serendipity. located on 225 east 60th street and I happily dined on their world famous frozen hot chocolate]. Yes it is hot and yes it is frozen, don't ask me how it is done, but it is both at the same time. While my nephew enjoyed a fabulous ice cream sundae. There are two floors for dining, but be prepared to wait if you are going there on a Friday or Saturday night. But it is worth it and ice cream is always a good way to end your kid friendly New York City Restaurant adventure!
