Universal Studios Theme Park Florida hosts countless attractions based on popular TV and movie franchises.... from E.T. to Shrek and Jimmy Neutron.

We visited Universal Studios Orlando Floridain December 2010. We have always been Disney Theme Park fans, but decided that it was time for a change on this particular trip..... and I might say - we made a great decision!

We visited Universal Studios in the rain, but that did not dampen the spirit of fun in the park. As you may know from other pages on this site, myself and my family are big roller coaster fans. Well, Universal Studios sis not disappoint. The Hollywood Rockit was really one the the most fun roller coasters that I have ridden in quite a while..... starting with a climb straight up, and then blasting down at 65 mph from 17 stories above the theme park. The most unique part of the ride is that you choose the music that you will listen to while on the ride. You are given a choice of 5 genres, and then a choice of up to 5 different songs in your chosen genre.

There a multitude of other rides and attractions at Universal Studios.....

Fans of movies and kids who just want to hang out with someone unexplainable will surely enjoy interacting with E.T. Yes, the world’s most famous extra-terrestrial has his bike and kids can ride with him through the starry night sky. More active tots will have a blast in Fievel's Playground which houses slides (there’s even one water slide), tubes, and a huge spider web where kids can climb in. Singers and dancers can spend a day in the park with the world’s most famous purple dinosaur, Barney. Kids wanting a thrill ride can come aboard Woody Woodpecker's Nuthouse Coaster. More intellectually curious tykes can spend time in attractions like the live show of Animal Planet and Curious George Goes to Town.

A multi-dimensional thrill can be arranged in the Shrek 4-D Adventure, which is a 25 minute interactive movie ride complete with special effects. There’s also Jimmy Neutron's Nickelodeon Blast where kids will be treated to a simulator rocket ride, taking them to the various homes of famous Nickelodeon characters like the Rugrats and of course, Jimmy Neutron. Bart, Homer and the rest of the Springfield crew also have their own The Simpsons motion simulator ride.

Older kids will surely enjoy attractions such as the Revenge of the Mummy coaster attraction, the Men in Black Alien Attack (where passengers can kill aliens with laser guns), and the Terminator 2: 3D Battle Across Time. Other simulator rides include the frightening JAWS ride, Twister's simulated tornado, and the creepy ruins of Earthquake: The Big One.
