Waikiki, HI Family Friendly Beach
Popular among the locals and tourists, Waikiki Beach on the Island of Oahu, HI has a little something for everyone. The sand is white and soft and perfect for sand castle building and sun bathing. The beaches are always filled no matter what time of the year.
There is a walled section of the beach that blocks the waves and rough waters and provides a wave-free beach setting for young children to play on the shore and in the water. On either side of the walled section, there are great places for boogey-boarding, surfing and swimming. There are rental shops dotted along the beach and plenty of great restaurants and shops for anything you may need - towels, sunscreen, surf boards, cameras, etc. There are even companies that run canoeing, kayaking and boating right off the shore.
Across from the beach the local Honolulu Zoo is the perfect place to take the kids if they need a short break from the sun. It is a small zoo, but has a wonderful mix of animals and a fantastic "Keiki" Zoo area for the kids.
